Denounce the UN Single Convention on Narcotics

THE PETITION The UN Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs 1961 and subsequent treaties (Convention on Psychotropic Substances 1971, Convention Against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances 1988) virtually abolish the right of every citizen of every member state to use most drugs. These violate the fundamental human rights to privacy and freedom of religion, belief and lifestyle. They also limit the rights of member states to take effective measures to reduce drugs harm, insisting as they do that all measures are aimed at reducing drugs use. We believe that reducing the harm from drugs use ought to be a priority over simply reducing the amount of use. Article 46 of the Convention, titled Denunciation, gives member states the right to throw out the treaty with 6 months notice. The form below gives you a means to personally denounce the Convention and undermine the moral authority prohibitionists draw from its apparently unanimous support.

DESIRED OUTCOME To force member countries and states to either withdraw from or amend the said treaties and enable the dismantling of harmful prohibitions.
WHO WE NEED TO INFLUENCE Every world leader and the United Nations.
HOW LONG WILL WE CAMPAIGN Until we achieve our aims. We will all be able to bring attention to the list of signatures as it rapidly grows.
